The Effect of Botanicals with Nematicidal Activity on the Structural and Functional Characteristics of the Soil Nematode Community

We investigated the effects of three botanicals with nematicidal properties (anise-Pimpinella anisum, parsley-Petroselinum crispum, and rocket-Eruca sativa) on soil nematode community, in terms trophic structure genera composition. compared those fluopyram (synthetic nematicide) Nemagold (bionematicide). assessed role time, by sampling 15 45 days after treatments analyzing microbial phospholipid fatty acid biomarkers (PLFA). Soil incorporation reduced plant parasitic nematodes, increased bacterivores, especially enrichment opportunists among them Rhabditis, having no effect fungivores non-parasitic feeders. Neither number nor composition dominance hierarchy were affected. did not induce any significant change, while decreased both free-living but uniform against all genera. The least affected genus was fungivorous Aphelenchus. While most PLFAs abundances except Meloidogyne incognita second stage juveniles, which emerged only treatments. low index high channel values samples indicated a stressful environment. opposite observed botanical treatments, parsley rocket.
